KAWS real name Brian Donnelly is known for his graffiti on buildings in New Jersey and Manhattan with the letters 'KAWS', a tag he chose because he liked the way the letters looked together. In 1999 KAWS visited Japan after being approached by Bounty Hunter, the toy and streetwear brand. He created his first-ever toy the “KAWS Companion” limited to 500 pieces which sold out almost instantly.
KAWS artwork revolves around cartooning figures such as the Simpsons KAWS piece sold for $500,000 in 2015.
